About FilmStage Studio

FilmStage Studio was founded in 2019 based on a simple belief: anyone who wants to learn how to act deserves training that reflects the realities of the profession as closely as possible.

Founder and actor Sandro Mastronardi trained with John Flanders for many years. When John moved to the United States, the question arose as to what would happen to his training programme and way of working. Rather than allowing that knowledge to be lost, the decision was made to continue building a new generation of actors and performers.

What began as a small-scale acting programme has grown over the years into a vibrant creative community, with students from across Flanders and the Netherlands. Young people, adults, beginners and professional actors have found their way to the programme to continue developing their skills in acting for camera.

From the very beginning, the focus has been on practical experience. We believe that acting is not learned solely from books or theory, but primarily by doing. That is why we work with scenes, cameras, feedback and techniques used throughout the professional industry worldwide, including the Meisner Technique and the Chubbuck Technique.

As the programme grew, it became clear that a broader vision was needed. Not just a classroom, but a place where performers could train under conditions that reflect the realities of film and television productions.

That dream became a reality in 2025 with the opening of our new location in Hasselt.

Together with Deusjevoo and a network of partners, we built a fully equipped acting studio with a professional film set. A unique environment where students not only learn how to act, but also gain experience with cameras, lighting, sound, blocking and the dynamics of a real set.

Today, FilmStage Studio is much more than an acting programme.

In addition to acting, we also offer training and coaching in musical theatre dance, singing and performance. We support both aspiring performers taking their first steps and experienced artists looking to deepen their skills.

Our mission remains the same as it was in 2019:

To help people grow as performers by not only teaching them techniques, but also giving them the opportunity to apply those techniques in a professional environment.

We believe that talent grows through training, experience and guidance.

That is why we continue to build a place where creativity, craftsmanship and practical experience come together every day.
